Panoramic image #1 of Pu‘ukoholā Heiau National Historic SitePanorama created with photos taken from Pelekane Beach, Pu‘ukoholā Heiau NHS, on the northwest Kona coast of the Big Island of Hawaiʻi. The USGS logo is centered looking northwest; west is to the left and north to the right of the logo. This image was created using photographs taken from the narrow strip of Pelekane Beach in Pu‘ukoholā Heiau National Historic Site, and shows the smaller Pelekane Bay leading out into Kawaihae Bay. The southern edge of the Kawaihae Harbor fill revetment wall is seen along the northern boundary of Pelekane Bay. In the shallow murky water of Pelekane Bay lies Hale o Kapuni heiau, dedicated to the Hawaiian shark gods.
