*Geological Long-Range Inclined Asdic
The U.S. EEZ (Exclusive Economic Zone) was declared by Presidential Order in 1983. This area includes the sea floor extending 200 nautical miles away from all U.S. possesions and trust territories. The area included is equal to two-thirds of all U.S. lands prior to the declaration. The U.S. Geological Survey was charged with surveying this new domain.
All of the GLORIA sidescan sonar data collected by the USGS from 1984 to 1991 are now available in full processed resolution (50 m) for the following areas:
"GLORIA Sidescan-Sonar Imagery for Parts of the U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone and Adjacent Areas," by Valerie F. Paskevich, Florence L. Wong, John J. O'Malley,
Andrew J. Stevenson, and Christina E. Gutmacher
