Notes
|
ROV video groundtruthing was conducted on cruise b-1-00-sc by Guy
Cochrane from March 20 to 24. The operation was part of the data collection for
the Nearshore Benthic Habitat Mapping Project in cooperation with the Channel
Islands National Marine Sanctuary (CINMS), national park, and other
national and state agencies. The Triton ROV, built by the Santa Clara
University Extreme Environment Mechanisms Lab (SCREEM), was used. Santa
Clara University mechanical engineering students operated the ROV on this
cruise. Funding for the ROV construction and operation in the Channel
Islands was provided by the West Coast and Polar Regions Underwater
Research Center. The CINMS R/V Ballena was used for this and for sidescan
acquisition for the project.
