Equipment Used
Purpose
To evaluate the marine geology offshore of the city of Kahului, Maui,
Hawaii.

Information to be Derived
Seismic reflection profiles.

Summary
The geophysical method of continuous seismic profiling was used.
An EG and G uniboom system was used aboard a small diving boat for the
operation. The system was operated at 1/4 second firing rate on a 1/4
second sweep at a power output of 200-400 joules. This system in practice
gives resolution of geologic units on the order of the 1-3 feet to
penetrable depths of 100-300 feet below the sea floor.
