Notes -
Successful recovery and test: Recovered the stretch hose
mooring that was deployed at the Buoy Farm on February 23, 2005 last
Sunday (May 29th) from the R/V Connecticut. The buoy and hose were
in excellent shape- all 16 conductors in the hose were undamaged and
the solar power system had the batteries fully charged. The small
computer that passes data from the MotionPak and and Tension Cell to
the radio link was hung up for unknown reasons. When Keith plugged
in a spare, it immediately started. When he plugged the original
unit back in, it also ran normally. The Tension Cell failed after
about 2 months from what appeared to be corrosion and it was
returned it to the vendor. In general, this test verified the
reliability of the stretch hose, despite several periods of severe
weather.
