Equipment Used
Purpose
Lake Pontchartrain Geologic Framework and Coastal Processes study was to
analyze environmental change focusing on evaluating environmental conditions,
sediment quality, coastal processes and geomorphology.
Information to be Derived
Vibracores used to derive high-resolution sedimentation patterns of
post Pleistocene geologic framework. Box cores to determine down core
geochronology, contaminate history and palynological studies.
Summary
A total of 75 cores were collected; 26 vibracores and 49 box cores.
Notes
These FACS logs were generated by Chandra Dreher in June of 2003, using
the handwritten logbooks and personal accounts of the scientist and crew
members.
Box cores with sample site number IDs are stored at the USGS St. Petersburg
downstairs SE corner core lab (contact Jack Kindinger jkindinger@usgs.gov).
Vibracores with sample ID name PON97 are stored at the University of New
Orleans, New Orleans (contact Phil McCarty pmccarty@uno.edu).
These data can be accessed using the Louisiana Sedimentary and Environmental
Database Internet Map Server (LASED IMS) located on line at:
