The upper portion of mooring 314 (instrument 3141) was
found drifting in the Gulf of Maine, apparently on October 2, 1986, by the
crew of the F/V ST. GEORGE and recovered. It is not known where the
mooring was recovered and it is unclear from a note in the mooring logbook
whether the mooring was recovered on October 2, or whether USGS was
notified on that date. The lower portion of the mooring (3142) was not
attached. The instrument was picked up by USGS when the ST. GEORGE
returned to port. This FA was created to document this serendipitous
mooring retrieval. Submitted 03/18/2009 by A. Orton for B. Butman.
