Information Specialist
Purpose
To determine the mechanisms driving the exchange of sediment between subitdal
and intertidal habitats, and to determine how resuspension from the bed is
affected by wetting and drying.
Information to be Derived
Flow velocities, salinity, temperature, depths, suspended sediment
concentrations; grain sizes in suspension and on the bed, bed porosity, water
content, and erodibility; wave characteristics.
Summary
Moorings to collect time-series data, and shipboard sampling during the
deployment to collect calibration samples for optical measurements of suspended
sediment concentration, and to sample bed sediment grain size and other
characteristics.
