NOTES from digitizing ...
This file was created by digitizing all 4 paper rolls of 12 khz bathy
from cruise L4 90SC (Bohannon/Eittreim) using the analog_dig program
on suna in B-111 by J. Riordan. 10/2/90.
Roll Start End
1 130 1218 - 133 1825
2 133 1825 - 138 1231
3 138 1233 - 141 0311
4 141 0325 - 144 0505
NOTE 1:
Values from rolls 1 and 2 HAVE been corrected (-) by 20m by a program.
There were significant differences between the depth value recorded
by the watchstanders and the digitized depth. This difference is due
to an offset on the top margin of the record which was measured by
S. Eittreim to be equivalent to 20m. How ? Record is 2 second sweep (1500m),
divided by 20 equal sections = 75m per section. The offset from the
top was measured with 10 point ruler to be 20m.
OTE 2:
Values from rolls 3 and 4 WERE corrected by 20 meters at the
time of digitizing to make up for the uneven top & bottom edges of the
record - per Steve Eittreim.
Method used in program:
When entering the bottom depth for each section, 20m was subtracted off the
bottom range. Example of ranges used: 0-1500 was adjusted to 0 - 1480,
1500 - 3000 was 1500 -2980, 3000 - 4500 was 3000 - 4480.
