Notes
|
Monolith - very large, red-roofed mansion, 18 properties south of line
OKLA 2-1 (easily seen in aerial photos). Trades were blowing from the ENE at
20-30 knots, with gusts to 40, and had been for several days. Some scarping
present as a result. Between 4 and 7 pm (moderate tides, moderate to large fetch
waves), six locations along Kailua Beach were sampled at 2 regions of the beach
face. In most cases, samples labeled #1 are the upper 5-6 cm of sand collected
~0.5 m makai of the vegetation line; #2 is the upper 4 cm of sand collected from
the high swash area. The swash was a bit steeper than usual, so samples were
taken rather high on it rather than at mid-swash.
