Purpose
Collect pre-spawning adult river herring from Trunk River in order to determine
the flux of mercury in this coastal ecosystem by way of migrating fish.
Information to be Derived
Samples and chemical analysis;
Summary
Six adult pre-spawn river herring were collected using nets from Trunk River,
20 m upstream of the Bike Path bridge. Wendy Buesseler (Oyster Pond
Environmental Trust) had counted 75 herring passing upstream between sunset and
2030 on March 31.
