Our transcription: The plate tectonics revolution has had a profound impact on our view of Planet Earth even extending beyond the field of geology.
The theory of plate tectonics has been, if not instrumental, certainly one of the major contributors to us increasingly looking at the Earth as a single system, and all the components of it as being an inter-related part of that system.
Our increasing understanding of an environmental system is essentially a follow through of that basic theme and something that's been very, very necessary.
