Our transcription: A good example is halite. Halite is a mineral that forms when sodium and chlorine atoms join during the evaporation of a lake. By themselves, each of these elements is extremely dangerous. Sodium, being an explosive metal; and chlorine, a poisonous gas. Yet when they are joined together, sodium and chlorine combine to form something that most of us use all the time: ordinary table salt.
