Our transcription: Some volcanoes at sea, together with the great majority of volcanoes on dry land, lie along convergent plate boundaries, such as those that encircle the Pacific Ocean. Volcanoes in convergent plate settings tend to erupt more explosively than those at hot spots and along divergent boundaries. They are called "composite volcanoes" because they are made of alternating layers of lava flows and explosively erupted fragments.
