Our transcription: Well, in retrospect, a lot could have been done to prevent the disaster of the dust bowl, but, of course, in those days, we didn't know as much as we do now about these problems, and so it's not a surprise that it happened and no one can really be blamed.

As a result of the dust bowl, the United Stated Soil Conservation Service was established in 1935.

Its goal was to develop farming techniques that would help to protect this precious natural resource, and to prevent similar disasters from ever occurring again.
