This is a tutorial page on what metadata can be
assembled before a Field Activity.
  • Much of the "overview" information is known
    before the start of a Field Activity.

  • Obtaining a FACS ID early facilitates communications,
    labeling, and associating data and materials.

Before your field activity:
  1. Fill out (as much as you can) this Overview Log (xls) using Excel.

  2. Email your Overview Log (xls) with "FACS ID Request" in the subject line
    to infobank@octopus.wr.usgs.gov.

  3. A Field Activity ID will be emailed to you as soon as possible.
    Use this ID to label data collected during this field activity.
