Subject: Final project meeting

MBMS folks,

Roberto and I have been mullling over an idea for some time for a final

project meeting at Angel Island. Roberto's sailboat can accomodate about

8-10 people across from SF, and mine can accomodate about 6-8. The Angel

Island setting might provide a relaxed, "detached" setting that might be

helpful in ruminating/philosophising about our just-completed project.

What did we do right in the project? What did we do wrong?

The sail across from SF would take about 1.5-2 hours, so if we daparted

from here at 10, on say a Friday in late September (Sept 29 tentative), we

could make it for lunch at a picnic table and then have our meeting. If

some folks would rather take the public transit route rather than trust the

helms of Eittreim/Anima, an/or if there is an overflow crowd, we can

schedule things compatible with the Blue & Gold Ferry Service to Angel

Island.

An agenda might be the following:

Volume status

Follow-on related work ongoing in FY01

Budget status at end-of-FY

Unfinished business

Discussion of MBMS project in hindsight

Other items?

Is this a good idea?, Bad idea? Take too much time? Are there other

agenda items that should be included?

Give me your feedback on this idea......Steve

Subject: Final project meeting

MBMS folks,

The idea of our final project meeting being held on Angel Island (email

reproduced below) got generally a favorable reception. But many of you

can't make it Sept 29. How does the following week, Friday, Oct 6 sound to

you all?........Steve

Subject: Final project meeting; next iteration

MBMS folks,

Some have suggested that Fridays in general, and especially Friday Oct 6 is

a bad choice because it is a long holiday weekend and people might be

heading off early for a trip. Perhaps Thursday, Oct 5 would be better?

Give me your one-liner feedbacks please if you're got some preferences.

Thanks......Steve

Subject: Final project meeting

MBMS folks,

There are now 8 of us heading off to Angel Island for our last project

meeting on Thursday (Anima, Degnan, Lorenson, McGann, Ryan, Wong, Orzech,

Eittreim). There is a Blue and Gold Fleet Ferry leaving for Angel Island at

11:30 from Pier 41 arriving at Angel I at 12:25. So any of you who would

rather take a faster, more stable platform could meet us there in Ayala

Cove. Roberto and I are planning to push off the dock at South Beach

Marina at 11 am, so we should be arriving at Angel Island at about 1

o'clock plus or minus.

Roberto's boat is 32', mine is 30', so we can easily accomodate 4 in each.

We will supply drinks and sandwiches, with a cup on the table for donations.

So I'm planning to leave Menlo Park at 10am on Thursday, and should be

arriving at the boat at 10:30 and can take 3 or 4 with me in my car. If

you're coming from the north or east and want to meet us at the marina,

look for us going out to F-Dock at 10:30. South Beach Marina is right next

to Pacbell Park. You may have to look around for parking, but I think I can

get a parking sticker for one other car besides mine to park in the marina

space.

If there are any others who have not yet expressed an interest, we can take

2 or 3 additional people, still in reasonable comfort. So let me know if

you're interested.

Those leaving from Menlo Park at 10, lets plant to meet at the flagpole in

front of Bldg 3 and push off at 10. We need one other volunteer driver, if

there are more than 4 of us leaving from here.......Steve

Subject: Final project meeting on Angel Island

Sailors,

Our Angel Island outing on thursday is now up to 12 participants. Wendy

Dahl and myself will have cars at the flagpole on Thursday at 10am for

those of you leaving from here. Some will be joining us at the dock (near

harbormaster's shack, or on/at Roberto's boat "Velero" hopefully within

veiw of harbormastter's shack? - Roberto will be sailing up that morning

from Coyote Pt). We should be arriving in cars at 10:30 and leaving the

dock at about 11am. Depending on weather, etc, I envision getting back to

the dock at about 5pm, but we can vote on that as our first agenda item for

our meeting, depending on weather, people's needs, etc. The Giants have a

game at 5:18, so traffic around the stadim will be pretty messy until after

the game starts.

See you all Thursday morning. Let me know if you've got any questions,

loose ends I've forgotten, etc......Steve

Brian,

Yes, you've been trashing too many of your emails. I've got lunch and

drinks all taken care of for the Angel Island do. Maybe I'll copy this to

all so everyone knows that.

10am at the flagpole for a ride up. Look for me or Wendy.

Mary, Holly and Jingping are finding their own way to the dock. Keep in

mind that a light rail line leads from Bart to the dock now......Steve
