Glacier Bay Crab Habitat

Pits shown on this side scan sonar image from upper Bartlett Cove are apparently resting places for multiple male crabs seen during a scuba dive in the spring of 1996. Pits are several meters wide. On this image white is high backscatter (the edges of the pits closest to the sound source and areas of hard bottom), black is low backscatter (areas within the pits where the sound can not reach).
