Marine Geology of Benthic Biohabitats in Glacier Bay, Alaska

Glacier Bay Moraine Image

This side scan sonar image was collected at the mouth of Bartlett Cove using a Klein 1000 sidescan sonar system (no indorsement implied) which incorporated an attached 3.5 kHz profiler. The image clearly shows patches of small boulders, cobbles and smaller gravel (light areas) intermixed with finer sediment (dark areas), probably sand. The image area is 600 meters square in approximately 20 m of water.
