Abstract:
cr_era1 is a compilation of hydrographic sounding data and shoreline data collected between 1868 and 1877 around the Columbia River, USA. Individual surveys in this combined data set include: H01018, H01019, H01378, H01379, CP_AHW, Clats_Spit, LB_AWH, Midl_Sands, NH_MLLW, and Peac_Spit.

This data set was used in the sediment budget analysis for the Columbia River littoral cell (Buijsman, et al. 2002) Horizontal datum is Washington State Plane South Fipzone 4602 meters. Attributes inlcude easting, northing, depth-navd(m), depth-mllw(m), and original survey name.

Purpose:
This data set is intended for use as an historical bathymetric data set for scientific research. It is not intended for navigational use. The data were originally used for bathymetric change and sediment budget analysis as part of the Southwest Washington Coastal Erosion Study (SWCES), a cooperative study by the US Geological Survey and the Washington State Department of Ecology.
Supplemental_Information:
The SWCES was initiated to examine coastal geology, processes, and natural hazards within the Columbia River littoral cell. The study is jointly directed by the U.S. Geological Survey Coastal and Marine Geology Program and the Washington State Department of Ecology Shorelands and Environmental Assistance Program, with active participation of local communities in Pacific and Grays Harbor counties.
