Average of almost 3000 images taken 1/5th a second apart of the wave breaking patterns at Pleasure Point. While the still imagery (see Figure 3) shows the location of waves breaking at any one point in time, this time averaging shows range and average wave breaking patterns for a given set of wave and tide conditions. A better understanding of these general patterns under specific conditions allows researchers to better predict how these patterns might change in the future.
